Welcome to www.LauriesRockPaintings.com. Here is a little about who I am and how Laurie's Rock Paintings got started.
Why my art is special: Western wildlife and rustic scenery is hand painted with watercolors on Colorado's indigenous sandstone. I want the world to see beautiful Colorado through my paintings on Rocky Mountain sandstone.
An artist was born in Boulder, Colorado in the 1970s. I am that artist. I grew up in Northern Idaho, painting all along. In 2001 I got a commercial arts degree from North Idaho College. Shortly afterwards I decided to move back to where my family roots are and to where I am naturally drawn- Colorado. In 2005 , I married my loving husband Jim and we now have a four year old son, Wesley. The next year Steve, my dad, married his loving wife Erica. They bought some property up near Carter Lake, just West of Berthoud, Colorado. At the time I was looking for my niche. They suggested experimenting on this sandstone that practically covers their property. Acrylics just sat on top, but watercolors became a part of the rock. The response was positive among family and friends. We then made stands out of tree branches, and finished the rocks and stands with polyurethane. I decided to present them to local galleries. I started with the Lincoln Art Gallery in Loveland. I am glad I did. They sponsor the Thompson Valley Art League and the annual Art in the Park show. Their jury suggested I have a booth in Art in the Park. With my family's undying and loving support, Laurie's Rock Paintings was born. Accomplishments:

Special Requests for rock paintings have always been gladly accepted.
So far every show we have been in has paid for itself and made a profit. I would say that is a pretty good record to try to keep.
Enjoy your stay at www.LauriesRockPaintings.com.
